The Indianapolis Office of Sustainability administers Thrive Indianapolis, the first sustainability and resiliency action plan in Indy’s history, which prioritizes community collaboration to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. As a division of the Department of Public Works, the Office of Sustainability promotes an environmentally sustainable city through various programs and partnerships that address the root causes and effects of climate change. Some initiatives the office manages include a year-round air quality initiative Knozone, an electric vehicle education and awareness campaign Highly EVolved, and an energy benchmarking program Thriving Buildings.

Florida Insurance Update – Mike Silvers, FRSA Director of Technical Services

In this session Mike will update RCMA attendees on the latest developments in the Florida property and casualty insurance industry and the effects on roofing markets in the Sunshine State. He will present a unique perspective on the issue by comparing the property and health insurance industries’ approaches to the economic challenges in both markets. Mike will also discuss potential opportunities to help remedy the issue and restore some common sense to the roofing industry in Florida.

Katherine Berry of American Coatings Association – Chemical Regulatory Updates

Katherine Berry, ACA, will be providing an update on sustainability initiatives in the paint and coatings industry including an upcoming sustainability program, ACA’s 2024 Sustainability Report, and potential sustainability policy. She will also provide an update on the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) including their upcoming education initiatives and standard revision. Lastly, she will provide a broad update on VOC regulations in the US.
